A Good Boy's Last Walk: A Poem from Beyond the Rainbow Bridge

The scent of sun-warmed earth, a gentle breeze, Familiar fields, rustling through the trees. I remember it all, a life so bright, Filled with belly rubs, and chases in the light.

My human's hand, a comforting embrace, A gentle voice, a smile upon their face. We walked this path, so many times before, Through summer's heat, and winter's icy floor.

(Chorus) But now I'm here, beyond the earthly plain, A silent watch, a whisper in the rain. My body's gone, but my spirit takes its flight, A loyal friend, bathed in eternal light.

The squirrels still chatter, birds still sing their song, But now I listen, where I've belonged For all of time, a part of nature's art, A loving soul, forever in your heart.

I see you now, your tears fall like the dew, My playful spirit, sends its love to you. Don't grieve for me, my journey's just begun, Our bond remains, until we meet as one.

I chase the butterflies, in fields of gold, A happy dog, a story to be told. The rainbow bridge, a path to paradise, Where wagging tails, and loving hearts arise.

(Chorus) For here I am, beyond the earthly plain, A silent watch, a whisper in the rain. My body's gone, but my spirit takes its flight, A loyal friend, bathed in eternal light.

Remember me, not with sorrow's heavy weight, But with a smile, and joyful, happy fate. For in your heart, a piece of me will stay, Forever loved, until our next bright day.

(Author's Note): This poem is written from the perspective of a dog who has passed away, expressing its love and longing for its human companion while finding peace in the afterlife. The imagery aims to evoke emotion and provide comfort to those who have lost their beloved pets. The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the dog's continued presence and enduring love.
